Makes a Dad Rather Proud

My youngest, Cynthia, who teaches 1st grade in Nashville Public Schools recently decided to participate in the April 8th MS walk in Murfreesboro. She began raising money just yesterday and as of this time has raised in excess of $450.00. She has a very nice web site where her progress can be tracked as well as an excellent writeup about why she's doing it. Way to go Pokey (her nickname from me).

Her web site can be viewed at www.nationalmssociety.org/site/TR/Walk/TNSWalkEvents?px=4398935&pg=personal&fr_id=8680&s_tafId=71549

Lexington Opera House Trip

Saturday, we attended a performance of 'Movin' Out', the Billy Joel, Twyla Tharp music and dance production at the Lexington Opera House. UK was playing a basketball game at Rupp Arena and parking spaces were at a premium. No sweat for the Segway. I let my wife out at the side door and drove until I found a parking spot (app 6 blocks away), got on the Segway and rode it to the Opera House on a cold January afternoon. I didn't have to pay for parking either. I saved $5.00 and thought that if I did this 1000 more times, I could buy a new Segway with my savings. Only 999 more to go!

When we entered and found our seats. One of the female volunteer ushers came to my seat and said that she sure could use my machine to help direct people to their seats. She further stated that she had been wanting to ride one. I naturally asked her to give it a try and we agreed to meet at the intermission in the foyer for her test ride. She loved it and it generated quite a lot of attention. My wife was even approached by a gentleman who wanted to know more about the device. The amount of attention it gets, even after being out for over 5 years, continues to amaze me. Great Saturday afternoon.
