Turkey Time Update

Well, the cooler weather is here making it harder for me to get out for a Segway funrun. The good old MS seems to be acting up a bit once again. Last year about this time I was given steroid IV's to help bring me out of the exacerbation I was experiencing. This one seems to be not as bad. I hope to avoid the steroids this time and let the Betaseron injections lessen both the effects and the duration, which it's supposed to do. And besides, I'm still fighting the 10 pound weight gain caused by the increased appetite due to the steroids. I ate like a pig and wanted more. One new problem I'm having is that I seem to be having trouble getting up from a seated position. I acquired an 'Up-Lift' power cushion and we are also looking at getting a power recliner. I wonder how many more gadgets will be able to help me in the future. However, the Segway still remains the grandest of them all, towering above everything else.

We set a Segway record of sorts (at least for me), when we used it in four different places Sunday. First, at church, where a bit of walking was required and next at Kroger. There, I was thinking about sitting in the vehicle while my wife picked up items for our Sunday lunch. We were in a hurry, so she asked me to zip to the rear of the store and get some things while she got lunch meat at the deli. So I unloaded the Segway, attached my shopping basket and did my zipping while she was still at the deli section of the store. Then, I had to wait for her to finish her one task (Yuk, Yuk, Yuk). Later that afternoon we made what is becoming a somewhat regular trip to Wal-Mart, and after the evening meal, went out to see 'Casino Royale' at a Lexington theater. I don't mind the loading and unloading of the Segway even one little bit. First, it's so easy, and second, it's either that or stay at home. A real no-brainer.

We're getting ready to go to Bowling Green to have Thanksgiving with the family. Naturally, the Segway will be with me. For me it's "The Segway, or no way". Have a nice Turkey Day.

Halloween Happenings

Three little creatures made an appearance around the household yesterday evening, they being 1)Pirate-Tanner Stacy, 2)Witch-AnnMarie Stacy and 3)Little Fireman-Sam Stacy. They stuck around for a short while before they were off and about busily gathering candy and treats. It would be impossible to foresee what might appear out of the shroud of fog which existed on a cool, damp, Halloween evening. The camera happened to catch glimpse one such apparition which seemed to be gliding slowly about on its own.
