2nd Sunday Fun

The 2nd Sunday was a statewide event aimed at focusing on excerising and fighting obesity. The 1.5 mile walking course began at the Georgetown College Conference Center and was routed around the campus, finally looping back to the Conference Center. Activities were available for younger kids inclding an inflatable bounce house and slide as well as programs designed to promote bicycle safety. Over 245 participants registered and walked the level course.
With the Segway, I began the event, leading the walkers around the course. After that I provided water for any walkers who might want a cold bottle as well as checked on anyone who might be having a problem finishing the walk. I had several takers for water and returned to the beginning area to refill my pouch several times.
Pictured above are members of the 2nd Sunday Committee, which include (from left to right), Earlene Arnett , Scott County Librarian; Connie Minch , Scott County Extension Agent and event organizer; Tony Hall , Scott County Health Department; Me , Segwayman and event waterboy; Susan Johnson, Women's Basketball Coach - Georgetown College and recent inductee into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame; Dr. Todd Gimble , Georgetown College; missing - Ken Wright, recent retiree from Scott County Schools where he was the Elementary Supervisor - (he was in the college student center watching the Bengals game when this was taken).

Connie Minch told me several times that she appreciated the work I was doing by delivering cold bottles of water to participants. I replied "Heck, this isn't work, I'm having fun."
