Loading the Segway

The clips above are the latest addition to my Segway equipment. They were added because I had fallen a few times in parking lots when I was unloading the Segway. Prior to getting these, I had to place one of my shoes on the bottom of the ramp in order to keep it from slipping as the Segway came down the ramp. Even though it was just a few times, falling is definitely not fun. Especially when there are people watching you. Falling hurts the pride more that the body. After a near fall in the parking lot at Lowe's, I ventured to the hardware for some advice. The clips and chains are a result of my inquiry. They work unbelievably well, freeing me up to concentrate on assisting the Segway in rolling straight down the ramps and in addition removing any possibility of a fall. The chains are clipped onto the rear bottom door latch of the SUV and provide a solid holding place. The clip process added app 10-20 seconds to my load/unload time. I can still complete the process in well under 90 seconds, from start to finish. It's a breeze. Here I am using the 'power assist' function of the segway to get it to climb up the ramps. Looks like I'm doing all the work, huh? I can now stand back and watch as the Segway does its thing.

Safely loaded and wheel chocked, I'm now ready to unhook the ramps, load them and close the door and be off to some other adventure. For me, it's a heck of a lot faster and easier than loading a power wheelchair. No hydraulic lift either. Notice how well the Segway matches the interior color scheme of my vehicle. Like I have said many times, I believe that machine was made for me.
